Installation & Aftercare FAQs

What happens on boiler installation day?

Your engineer will arrive at the agreed time, protect floors and surfaces, isolate the gas and power, then remove the old boiler safely. We’ll fit the new boiler and flue to manufacturer standards, commission it, and complete Gas Safe paperwork before a clean handover.

How long does a typical installation take?

Most like-for-like swaps are done in one day. Conversions (e.g., system to combi) or relocations can take 1–2 days, depending on access and pipework. You’ll have heating and hot water back the same day in most cases.

Do I need to prepare anything before the engineer arrives?

Please clear the area around your boiler, cylinder (if present), and controls. Remove fragile items and ensure someone 18+ is at home. We’ll handle protection, isolation and all technical checks.

Will you remove my old boiler and waste?

Yes — we disconnect, remove and responsibly dispose of the old boiler, tank/cylinder (if applicable), redundant flue sections and packaging. Your home is left clean and tidy on completion.

Do you flush the system during installation?

We perform a system cleanse appropriate to the job (mains flush or power flush if required), fit/inspect the magnetic filter and add inhibitor. This protects your new boiler and helps maintain efficiency.

Will my warranty be registered for me?

Yes. We register the manufacturer warranty and Gas Safe notification after commissioning. You’ll receive documentation for your records. Keep up annual servicing to maintain cover.

Can I use a smart thermostat (Hive, Nest, Tado, etc.)?

Yes — most smart controls are compatible. We can supply and fit smart stats or connect your existing kit, ensuring correct wiring and optimum settings for efficiency and comfort.

What aftercare do I get following installation?

You get a full handover, benchmark logbook, and support from our local team. We’ll remind you when your annual service is due. For additional peace of mind, our Bronze / Silver / Gold / Gold+ cover plans provide ongoing protection.

How do I look after my boiler between services?

Keep the area around the boiler clear, check system pressure monthly (typically 1.0–1.5 bar when cold), ensure vents are unobstructed, and don’t ignore unusual noises or leaks — contact us if anything changes.

What should I do if my pressure keeps dropping?

Frequent pressure loss can indicate a small system leak, a faulty PRV, or expansion vessel issues. Top up as per your manual and contact us to diagnose. Our engineers can test, repair and re-pressurise the vessel where needed.

Do you balance radiators after installation?

Yes — balancing ensures even heat across all rooms. We set lockshields appropriately and verify temperatures. We’ll also advise on TRVs and smart zoning if beneficial.

Can you work around pets or limited access?

We’re happy to accommodate where safe. Please secure pets, provide clear access to the boiler, gas meter and radiators, and let us know about any mobility or access considerations in advance.
