Blue Flame Boiler Cover – Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions apply to all Blue Flame Boiler Cover plans and form part of the agreement between Blue Flame and the customer.

Blue Flame Boiler Cover is a service and maintenance agreement, not a warranty or insurance policy, and operates independently of any manufacturer warranty or the Blue Flame Installation Warranty unless expressly stated in writing.

Boiler Cover does not affect your statutory consumer rights.


1. Scope of Boiler Cover

Blue Flame Boiler Cover provides ongoing maintenance and repair support for eligible boilers and associated heating components, regardless of the original installer, subject to these Terms & Conditions.

Cover applies only to the boiler and components expressly included in the customer’s selected Boiler Cover plan.

Boiler Cover does not replace, extend, or reinstate any manufacturer warranty or the Blue Flame Installation Warranty.


2. Eligibility & Acceptance

Boiler Cover is available for boilers installed by Blue Flame and boilers installed by third parties, provided that:

  • The boiler passes a Blue Flame inspection confirming suitability for cover; or

  • Blue Flame confirms acceptance into Boiler Cover without inspection at its discretion.

Blue Flame reserves the right to:

  • Require inspection prior to the commencement of cover;

  • Identify and exclude pre-existing faults;

  • Decline cover where the boiler or heating system is unsafe, non-compliant, obsolete, or uneconomical to maintain.

Acceptance into Boiler Cover does not constitute confirmation that the boiler or heating system is free from defects.

2.1 First Visit Inspection & Commencement of Cover

Where a Blue Flame Boiler Cover plan is taken out for a boiler not previously inspected by Blue Flame, cover is conditional upon a First Visit Inspection.

  • A First Visit Inspection will normally be carried out within 28 days of the Boiler Cover start date;

  • Boiler Cover does not apply to faults or failures identified prior to, or during, the First Visit Inspection;

  • Boiler Cover will only commence once the boiler and heating system have been confirmed as suitable for cover by a Blue Flame engineer.

Where issues are identified during the First Visit Inspection that prevent the boiler or heating system from being suitable for Boiler Cover, Blue Flame will provide a quotation for the required remedial work. Boiler Cover will only commence once the recommended work has been completed and the boiler or system has been confirmed as suitable for cover. The customer is under no obligation to proceed with the remedial work, and where the customer chooses not to do so, the Boiler Cover plan will be cancelled and any payments made will be refunded in full.

Acceptance into Boiler Cover following inspection does not constitute confirmation that the boiler or system is free from defects beyond the scope of the inspection.


3. What Is Included

Subject to the selected plan level, Boiler Cover may include:

  • Breakdown diagnosis and repair;

  • Parts and labour for covered components;

  • Annual boiler service (where included in the selected plan);

  • Priority or standard engineer attendance, as specified.

All work under Boiler Cover must be carried out by Blue Flame engineers.


4. Annual Servicing Requirement

Where annual servicing is included in the Boiler Cover plan:

  • The service will be carried out by a Blue Flame engineer;

  • The service must be completed within each plan year to maintain continuous cover.

Where annual servicing is not included:

  • The customer is responsible for ensuring the boiler is serviced annually by a Gas Safe registered engineer;

  • Valid service records must be retained and provided upon request.

Failure to maintain annual servicing may result in suspension or termination of Boiler Cover.


5. Relationship to the Blue Flame Installation Warranty

Boiler Cover operates independently from the Blue Flame Installation Warranty.

Where Boiler Cover is taken out following the lapse or expiry of the Blue Flame Installation Warranty:

  • Boiler Cover does not reinstate the Warranty retrospectively;

  • Boiler Cover applies only from the Boiler Cover start date;

  • Faults arising prior to the commencement of Boiler Cover are excluded.


6. Pre-Existing Faults

Boiler Cover does not apply to:

  • Faults present prior to the Boiler Cover start date;

  • Faults identified during inspection or initial attendance;

  • Issues arising from historic installation defects, non-compliance, or poor system condition.

Such faults may be quoted for separately.


7. System Condition & Contamination (Boiler Cover)

Boiler Cover does not apply to faults, damage, or failures arising from the condition of the boiler or heating system, including but not limited to:

  • sludge, debris, scale, corrosion, or poor water quality;

  • blockages or restricted circulation;

  • system imbalance or inadequate system design.

a) Boilers or systems not installed by Blue Flame

Where the boiler or heating system was installed by a third party, Boiler Cover does not apply to faults reasonably attributable to historic installation quality, system condition, or contamination present prior to the commencement of Boiler Cover.

Where inspection identifies such issues, Blue Flame may recommend remedial work. Any such work is chargeable unless otherwise agreed in writing.


b) Boilers or systems installed by Blue Flame

Where the boiler and heating system were installed by Blue Flame, the exclusions in this section shall not apply, except where:

  • Blue Flame identified system contamination, defects, or required remedial work at the time of quotation, installation, inspection, or servicing; and

  • Blue Flame provided a recommendation and quotation for corrective work (including, but not limited to, system flushing, chemical cleaning, or component replacement); and

  • The customer declined the recommended work due to cost or preference.

In such circumstances, Boiler Cover shall not apply to faults reasonably attributable to the declined remedial work or the resulting system condition.


c) General provisions

  • Boiler Cover does not provide retrospective cover for faults arising prior to the Boiler Cover start date;

  • Acceptance into Boiler Cover does not constitute confirmation that the boiler or heating system is free from defects;

  • Blue Flame reserves the right to determine whether a fault is reasonably attributable to system condition or contamination.


8. General Exclusions

Boiler Cover does not cover:

  • Boilers or components not approved by Blue Flame;

  • Normal wear and tear outside the scope of the selected plan;

  • Cosmetic damage;

  • Misuse, neglect, or failure to service;

  • Repairs, servicing, or modifications carried out by third parties;

  • Issues arising from inadequate gas, electricity, or water supply;

  • Indirect, incidental, or consequential losses.


9. Access, Safety & Conduct

The customer must provide reasonable access for inspection, servicing, and repair.

Blue Flame reserves the right to refuse, suspend, or reschedule work where:

  • Access is unsafe or restricted;

  • The installation does not comply with safety regulations;

  • Engineer welfare or compliance is compromised.


10. Call-Outs, Diagnosis & Repairs

All breakdowns must be reported directly to Blue Flame.

Blue Flame reserves the right to:

  • Inspect and diagnose faults before authorising repairs;

  • Determine whether a fault is covered under Boiler Cover;

  • Apply exclusions or chargeable work where applicable.


Beyond Economical or Safe Repair

Where, following inspection and diagnosis, a boiler is deemed to be beyond economical repair or unsafe to repair, Blue Flame’s responsibility under Boiler Cover is limited to fault diagnosis and professional advice.

In such circumstances:

  • No repair obligation exists under Boiler Cover;

  • Time spent attending, inspecting, and diagnosing the fault is deemed included within the Boiler Cover call-out entitlement;

  • Blue Flame may provide a quotation or recommendation for replacement or alternative solutions at its discretion.

This provision does not create any obligation to replace the boiler or provide financial contribution toward replacement.


Discretionary Replacement Discount

Where a boiler is deemed beyond economical or safe repair, Blue Flame may, at its discretion, offer a goodwill discount toward the installation of a new boiler supplied and installed by Blue Flame.

Any such discount:

  • Is discretionary and non-contractual;

  • Is not guaranteed and does not form part of Boiler Cover;

  • Will be determined based on the customer’s length of time on a Blue Flame Boiler Cover plan and overall service history;

  • Will be capped at a maximum value of £400;

  • Cannot be exchanged for cash, credit, or refund;

  • Cannot be applied retrospectively or combined with other promotional offers unless expressly agreed in writing.

The provision of a discretionary discount does not create any obligation on Blue Flame to replace the boiler or provide alternative compensation.


11. Parts Availability

Where replacement parts are obsolete or unavailable:

  • Blue Flame may offer an alternative repair solution; or

  • Provide a quotation for replacement or upgrade at its discretion.

Boiler Cover does not guarantee indefinite availability of parts.


12. Suspension or Termination

Blue Flame may suspend or terminate Boiler Cover where:

  • Payments are missed;

  • Servicing obligations are not met;

  • Boiler or system condition deteriorates beyond acceptable limits;

  • Safety or compliance concerns arise.

No refunds are due where termination results from breach of these Terms & Conditions.


13. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • Blue Flame shall not be liable for indirect or consequential losses;

  • Liability under Boiler Cover is limited to the cost of parts and labour supplied under the active plan.

Repairs do not extend or reset the Boiler Cover term.


14. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England & Wales.


15. Statutory Rights

Boiler Cover does not affect your statutory consumer rights.
